Homelands
고향땅 Homelands is a highly personal work borne from a promise to the author’s late grandfather, a professionally-trained camera technician for the Korean army. It is a memoir of his childhood journey from north to south. Using the spiral notebook and story he left behind, writer Esther Kim created this hybrid—art book, photo book, translation, archive, and family heirloom—in collaboration with the Detroit-based artist and designer Martyna Alexander.
