Lost Mirror

This series is directly inspired by my love of the delicateness and beauty of asian woodblock prints. Mixed with my own take on the human form & modern illustration techniques I use this ancient style to connect with a part of myself that feels both foreign and extremely comforting.

As an adult my family discovered our Korean ethnicity through a DNA test. This realization felt like it explained so much of myself but also enflamed the fear of being another white girl appropriating another more interesting culture. I continue to explore culture through art as a way to understand and come to terms with the many facets of my identity and the origins of my inherent interests.
